Even if Alberta and Carl Jones weren’t the very first to make their full deposit and lay claim to a new apartment home in The Cornerstone expansion, they’d still be a couple you’d enjoy getting to know.
“In a sense, this move is our gift to our son,” Alberta explained. They wanted to plan ahead so that he wouldn’t have to. But they were also ready to free themselves from the constraints of home maintenance and cooking, so there’d be time to enjoy life together. For the Joneses, that means theater, music, movies — and the long walks that have often taken them right past Simpson House.
“We visited quite a few communities in the greater Philadelphia area before selecting The Cornerstone. For us, it was location, location, location, and — because it is a new entity — we have had input into the design of our apartment. We chose a two bedroom on the top floor, with a huge bay window and high ceiling,” said Alberta.
Married for 45 years, Alberta and Carl have lived and worked in an urban environment all their lives, “[so] we wanted to continue living in the city where we will have access to recreation, entertainment, transportation, medical care, religious activities, and be close to family and friends,” she said. “We’re excited about the move and feel that now is the right time for us to downsize and start a new chapter in our lives. We look forward to enjoying our new home.” And, in fact, their timing was so perfect, they became our “first family.”
